Instructor: DeepJyoti-Product-DesignLanguage: English
This document provides a technical briefing on a high-precision bolt design software tool. The tool is designed to perform comprehensive bolt analysis with or without confined gasket ( O Ring) based on ISO/ANSI/ASME Metric Bolt Thread standards, offering advanced features for engineers and designers to ensure the reliability and safety of bolted joints.
Key Features and Technical Details :
Bolt stiffness and joint stiffness are critical parameters in bolted joint design, influencing load distribution and overall joint behavior. The software will incorporate methods for calculating both bolt and member stiffness. This includes consideration of the bolt's material properties, geometry (threaded and unthreaded lengths, cross-sectional areas), and the clamped material's properties and geometry.
Accurate results of external load distribution between bolt and member in a pattern is essential for preventing premature failure and optimizing design.
Ensuring adequate safety factors is paramount in bolt design. The software will assess safety factors against various failure modes, including tensile failure, shear failure, and joint separation. The Factor of Safety is Set at 2 in Software.
Precise torque control is vital for achieving the desired preload in bolted joints. The software will calculate optimal tightening torque requirements based on bolt material, size, thread type, and desired preload. It will account for friction coefficients under the bolt head and in the threads, and will provide recommendations for lubrication effects. The tool will assist in determining the relationship between applied torque and axial force, ensuring consistent and reliable joint assembly. K Factor can be changed in Software. No Reduction in Torque - Bolt is Dry - Zero Lubrication is considered in Software.
Thread shear is a critical failure mode that occurs when the threads of either the bolt or the nut shear off. The software will perform comprehensive thread shear analysis for (bolt) threads. Since Bolt threads are always weaker then Nut Threads. It will utilize formulas and methodologies from standards to calculate thread shear areas and assess the shear strength of the threads. The analysis will consider the material properties to predict potential thread stripping.
This high-precision bolt design software tool will provide engineers with a powerful and reliable solution for analyzing and optimizing bolted joints. By integrating advanced calculation methodologies and adhering to industry standards, the tool will enhance design accuracy, improve product reliability, and streamline the engineering workflow.
